To own a piece of Irish maritime history or for more information contact the crew at Meitheal Mara Currach Models Culturally, model boat making is part and parcel of any boat-building maritime society. Model boats were traditionally made by people who built the full scale boats. As boat builders got older they turned to building models and often used it as a teaching aid. The currach models made by Meitheal Mara are scaled at 1:10 and are all handmade.It's not really a toy, but is an actual miniature of the full size one. The models are perfectly accurate and are built in exactly the same way as the full size boat and can be used as a guide for building the real ones. The model we currently offer is the Naomhóg, a West Kerry Currach.
