  • April 19th 2004. Launch of Dunfanaghy currach built by Ballyphehane youth Group.
  • April 5th 2004. Launch of Dunfanaghy Currach built by Curraheen Youth Project. The aptly named Storm was launched in blustery conditions by proud boat builders Amanda, Jason, Andrew, Ger and Gavin (Keith couldn't make it). Well done to all.
  • 14th - 17th March 2004. Pádraig and Danny Sheehy exhibited their currach building skills in the James Joyce house in Ushers Quay in Dublin. They built a three hand naomhóg which was launched on the Liffey on St. Patricks Day.
  • 2003 September. The Thames Great River Race. Meitheal Mara and Naomhóga Chorcaí headed across the water to compete in the Great River Race. The 22 mile race from Richmond to Greenwich had 211 competitors this year and the Cork crew in a Meitheal Mara 2 hand naomhóg finished a credible 46. The crew was Ger Lenihan, Paul Lombard, Pádraig Ó'Duinnín and Mary Mooney.
  • 2003 August A Naomhóga Chorcaí crew rowed from the Aran Islands to the Blaskets in a Meitheal Mara 4 hand naomhóg.
  • 2003 July. Youth League. Teams from Greenmount, Blarney Street and Bishopstown competed over four weeks in boats they had built themselves. After some very close racing Bishopstown/Curraheen received the Ógra Chorcaí Trophy.
  • 2003 Jan - May. Four groups of young people have completed their boats and launched them.
  • 2003 April. A fundraising table quiz was held in the Spailpin Fanach Pub. Thanks to Brendan our quiz master. Great craic all round.
  • 2002 September. Pádraig and Seamus built a Belderrig currach a week long exhibition at the Museum of Country Life in Castlebar.
  • 2002 August. TG4, Irelands Irish language television station did a twenty minute documentary on Meitheal Mara's youth project.
  • 2002 January. A fundraising dinner was held in Carrigaline court Hotel and was attended by approx 200 supporters. Paddy Barry gave a talk and slide show on his conquering of the Northwest Passage and was presented with the inaugural Gradam (award) Meitheal Mara for outstanding achievement in the maritime field. Music was provided by the Meitheal ceili band organised thanks to Dave Hennessy, and the dancing went on into the wee hours.
